Oksana Chusovitina: Inspiring Women Over 40
As I was purusing through Facebook this morning, I saw this story about Oksana Chusovitina, a 40 year old Olympic gymnast who qualified for her 7th Olympics. She will be competing this summer in Rio for Uzbekistan. She has the moves of a 20 year old athlete and by the looks of it, she doesn’t let age stand in her way. Yes, she is amazing.
I believe in the importance of having your “why” to lose weight and to get fit. Having a “why” is crucial to your success. Oksana Chusovitina has a compelling “why” that continues to drive her to train as an olympic gymnast. Her “why” is her son, Alisher, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2002. She has used prize money from competing to pay bills, particularly the medical bills associated with her son’s treatment. Oksana has excelled so well as a gymnast, there are gymnastic moves named after her.
It’s important to have a “why” that is more important to you than your biggest roadblock for losing weight and getting fit. If you haven’t identified your why yet, start here.
