Just when you feel as though you are too old to get fit, too old to lose weight, too old to change your lifestyle, someone comes along to lift you and inspire you into a new direction with an I can do this attitude. Ever notice how those among us can be our inspiration? We are all at different points in our lives and if we allow it, we can help others and others can lift us to greater heights.

Oksana Chusovitina: Inspiring Women Over 40

As I was purusing through Facebook this morning, I saw this story about Oksana Chusovitina, a 40 year old Olympic gymnast who qualified for her 7th Olympics. She will be competing this summer in Rio for Uzbekistan. She has the moves of a 20 year old athlete and by the looks of it, she doesn’t let age stand in her way. Yes, she is amazing.

I believe in the importance of having your “why” to lose weight and to get fit. Having a “why” is crucial to your success. Oksana Chusovitina has a compelling “why” that continues to drive her to train as an olympic gymnast. Her “why” is her son, Alisher, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2002. She has used prize money from competing to pay bills, particularly the medical bills associated with her son’s treatment. Oksana has excelled so well as a gymnast, there are gymnastic moves named after her.

It’s important to have a “why” that is more important to you than your biggest roadblock for losing weight and getting fit. If you haven’t identified your why yet, start here.

Age, sage. Age means nothing unless you let it get in your way. Work your way to feeling younger and allowing your body to be better. Studies prove exercising and proper nutrition have enormous health benefits, requiring the need of fewer medications for things like high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, depression, etc.

So, what are you waiting for?

Take the steps to start living a healthy life today!

What is the “why” in your life?
